This year is expected to be the worst tick season in a decade, largely because of climate change. Lyme disease already sickens hundreds of thousands of people each year and, as our climate gets warmer, ticks are spreading into new regions and staying active longer. Luckily, a Lyme disease vaccine may be in reach!

But, instead of meeting this moment with science, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), is fueling the anti-vaccine agenda that could make this crisis even worse.

Tick-borne diseases are spreading across the country, and families need a serious, science-based public health response.

I urge you to stop undermining vaccine science and commit HHS to a real national plan to fight Lyme disease and other tick-borne threats.

That means protecting NIH and CDC research, supporting evidence-based vaccine review, and fully funding prevention, testing, treatment, surveillance, and public education.

HHS should be helping families stay safe — not letting anti-vaccine politics weaken the tools we need to prevent disease.
