Urgent! The Maryland Senate Finance Committee is voting on this bill FRIDAY February 5th, 2021!
The vote on this bill has already been delayed twice this week and now opposition is attempting to amend and weaken it. We must urge the Senate Finance Committee to move this bill forward as is.
The world’s leading climate scientists warn that we have 10 short years to dramatically reduce our climate-disrupting emissions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), we must reduce greenhouse gas emissions 60% by 2030 to avoid the worst impacts of a rapidly warming planet. This means we need to consider climate when making decisions about how we power our homes, industries, cars, and keep labor standards and equity issues front and center while we build this new economy.
This bill will require Maryland’s Public Service Commission (PSC) to consider the maintenance of fair and stable labor standards and the protection of the global climate by supervising and regulating certain public service companies.
The 2020's will see our futures defined by how we handle the climate crisis. If you are passionate about addressing the climate crisis and protecting Marylanders across the state, take action today.
Send this email to the members of the key Senate Finance Committee - they have the power to move this bill forward without amendments.
