Take 1 Minute: Sign The Petition!

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is a multi-state carbon cap-and-trade program that makes polluters pay for air pollution and pushes them to reduce pollution over time. In Virginia, RGGI is the only source of funding for proactive flood prevention. In less than 3 years, RGGI produced over $295 million for flood resilience, as well as over $290 million for low-income weatherization and energy efficient housing.

Governor Glenn Youngkin is trying to take us out of RGGI even though over 87% of Virginians expressed support for staying in the program in a recent public comment period.

SIGN THIS PETITION to show your representative, and the Governor, that we need RGGI!

Dear Virginia Legislators:

As residents of flood zones in Virginia, we support remaining in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). RGGI is the only source of state funding for proactive flood prevention. In less than 3 years, RGGI has produced over $295 million for flood resilience, as well as over $290 million for low-income weatherization and energy efficient housing.

Please oppose efforts to remove Virginia from RGGI, and ensure that RGGI funds are used for their intended purposes: proactive flood resilience and energy efficiency.

Thank you,
