Dominion is trying to build a NEW massive methane gas plant in Chesterfield County. This is nothing short of unconscionable in a state legally bound to move to 100% clean energy, in a country where solar is the cheapest energy source, and at a time when wildfires, tornados, and hurricanes are wreaking havoc across North America.

If that makes you furious, then you are not alone. We HAVE to show up in force to stop this methane gas plant.

Sign the petition to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to express your outrage and tell them: the days of new fossil fuel infrastructure are OVER.

To whom it may concern at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality:

We would like to express our outrage and dissatisfaction with Dominion Energy's proposal to build a new gas plant in Chesterfield.

This is nothing short of unconscionable in a state legally bound to move to 100% clean energy, in a country where solar is the cheapest energy source, and at a time when wildfires, tornados, and hurricanes are wreaking havoc across North America. It also flies in the face of Dominion’s stated climate goals. Dominion is required to shift their energy mix towards zero-carbon sources.Building a new fossil fuel plant is a big step in the wrong direction.

Instead of proposing four new methane gas generators that produce sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOX), particulate matter (PM), carbon dioxide (CO2), mercury (Hg), and other pollutants, Dominion should make a sincere effort to meet their energy efficiency targets. In fact, Dominion is required to meet these targets prior to creating new carbon-emitting facilities. Moreover, Dominion can lean on forecasting, demand management, and battery storage to prepare for and respond to peak load.

Please reject all permits requested by Dominion for this wrongheaded proposal.

Signed,
