Join us for our February 2024
CCAN Power Hour
For Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) and our sister organization, CCAN Action Fund, the perceived power imbalance of our climate fights often feels like David vs. Goliath.
- Washington Gas is paying top-dollar lobbyists to convince officials in the District of Columbia to let them continue needlessly replacing all gas pipes and sidetrack electrification of homes for working class people across the city.
- Dominion Energy is trying to convince the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors that they need to build a power plant to meet energy demand, even though that demand could be met with increased investments in renewable energy.
- Fossil fuel lobbyists in Annapolis are walking the halls of the state capitol trying to convince electeds that the biggest fossil fuel companies should not be held financially responsible when extreme weather events caused by climate change hit Maryland communities.
We are like David. CCAN and CCAN Action Fund have limited resources so each organiztion must use them efficiently and effectively. We do that by building our membership base and our volunteer leadership teams. And, like David, we can achieve victory!
This Power Hour is a great opportunity to learn how CCAN and CCAN Action Fund are building a people-powered climate movement, how you can get involved, and what it means to become an Action Member. Thanks for your support. We can't do it without you!
