Big Oil corporations knew their pollution would harm our communities for DECADES but they kept profiting off the climate crisis. Now we are seeing severe climate-fueled disasters harm our communities. And we are left picking up the pieces, taking care of each other and covering the costs of rebuilding.
Now it's time to make polluters pay.
We are building a grassroots movement of Virginians who are ready to fight back against some of the biggest corporations on the planet. Big Oil companies should pay for the damage they have caused to Virginia, including the multi-billion dollar climate disaster that was Hurricane Helene. Will you join us in our efforts to Make Polluters Pay?

Climate change is here. Virginia faces dangerous extreme weather events every year. Last summer, Hurricane Helene inflicted billions of dollars of damage to Southwest Virginia. That comes on the heels of the hottest year on record and several years in a row of devastating flooding in Southwest and across the state.
The communities least responsible for the climate crisis are the ones most impacted by these severe weather disasters. Fossil fuel corporations knew their product would fuel climate change, flooding our coasts and low-lying communities statewide. Yet they did nothing for decades. Now everyday Virginians are paying the price for corporate pollution.
The state should assess how much damage Big Oil companies have wrought over the last several decades, and recoup those damages to fund disaster relief and boost grid resilience to extreme weather. Without this action, Virginians will continue to pay out-of-pocket for climate disasters, disasters that are getting worse every year.
We, the undersigned residents of Virginia, urge our state officials to shift the economic burden of climate change from taxpayers and residents to the corporate giants responsible for climate disasters.
