There have been waves of actions taken by the new administration that put our climate, the health of our communities, and clean energy jobs at risk. One of the most harmful of these backwards facing actions has been the embrace of liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminals. Sign this petition today to tell our nation's leaders that the American people do not want more LNG facilities!
Sign the petition today. Take a stand against LNG exports!
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export terminals threaten our health, climate, and communities. Modeling produced by EPA tools shows that LNG terminals currently in operation result in 60 premature deaths every year and nearly $1 billion in health costs. Unbridled LNG exportation also raises the price of energy for Americans. If LNG exports remain unconstrained, the average American household can expect to spend over $100 more per year by 2050, a price hike that will be felt most by low- and middle-income households already struggling to keep up with the high cost of living. Moreover, as former Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm explained: “unfettered exports of LNG would increase wholesale domestic natural gas prices by over 30 percent.”
Under the previous administration, the development of export projects that would directly harm the public health and energy prices of Americans were paused. Under this administration, the freeze has been lifted and all of the dangers of natural gas are set to flood back into our communities. We demand an end to this dirty fuel.
Sincerely,
