Dismantling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will leave thousands upon thousands of disaster survivors abandoned by the federal government. Now we have an urgent opportunity to fight back! The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently formed a FEMA Review Council and is seeking comments from the public describing past experiences with FEMA
We invite you to take a moment to submit a comment sharing your experience with FEMA and to urge the DHS's Council to protect FEMA and federal disaster relief.
Here's how to submit your comment:
- Draft or copy sample comment. Copy our sample comment, which can be found at the bottom of the page
- Go to the website. Go to the Federal Register's webpage for Public Input on Experience with FEMA Disaster Responses

I am writing to strongly urge the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Review Council to preserve FEMA to ensure that all disaster survivors, especially those with the greatest needs, safely and successfully rebuild their communities while mitigating the risk of future devastation.
Federal disaster response certainly needs improvements, but dismantling FEMA will be disastrous for communities across the country. Without FEMA's support, states will be unable to adequately respond to disasters, leaving survivors and communities stranded without the resources to rebuild and prevent disasters from happening again.
I strongly urge the FEMA Review Council to preserve and strengthen FEMA to better serve communities, not to eliminate it.
