The version of the RENEW Act that passed the Maryland General Assembly this year directs Maryland’s incredible Comptroller, Brooke Lierman, to calculate how much climate change will cost the state. This is a necessary first step to one day making giant fossil fuel companies pay for the damages of climate change.
We are closer than ever to making the richest, most polluting fossil fuel companies write Maryland a check to pay for climate damages, and THAT is worth celebrating!
We will hear from the terrific state lawmakers who introduced and passed this groundbreaking new law, Senator Katie Fry Hester (D-9), Delegate David Fraser-Hidalgo (D-15), and Delegate Adrian Boafo (D-23).
